Banking & Finance Associate | 5+ PQE | Birmingham We are working with a highly regarded national law firm seeking an experienced Banking & Capital Markets Associate with 5+ years' PQE to join their Birmingham office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex and high-value banking and capital markets transactions within a supportive and collaborative team environment. The Role: Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of banking and capital markets transactions. Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of banking documentation, including loan agreements, security documentation, private placements, listed bond issues, ISDA agreements, and PFI loan agreements. Work directly with clients, understanding their objectives and meeting deadlines. Contribute to business development and client relationship management in a client-focused manner. Provide support to other fee earners in the department, sharing knowledge and expertise where required. Maintain accurate and compliant client files in line with LEXCEL, ISO27001, and SRA standards. Meet or exceed monthly billing targets and support efficient team operations. Candidate Requirements: Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years' experience in banking law and/or capital markets transactions. Experience advising borrowers or lenders, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills. Strong academic background (2:1 or First at degree level or equivalent preferred). Commercially aware, able to convey clear, concise advice to clients and stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail. Self-motivated and able to prioritise a demanding workload while remaining calm and professional. Team player with flexibility to meet client deadlines. Desirable Skills: Experience in charity law, housing association law, or regulatory matters. Familiarity with Document Management Systems (DMS) and time recording systems such as Partners for Windows.
