Tax Associate | 2-5 PQE | Birmingham
We are working with a highly regarded national law firm seeking an experienced Tax Solicitor with 2-5 years' PQE to join its highly ranked Corporate Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and commercially focused practice advising UK and international clients on a broad range of transactional and standalone tax matters.
The Role:
Advise clients on a wide range of corporate tax matters including acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and reorganisations.
Provide transactional tax support to corporate and commercial teams on complex deals.
- Draft and negotiate tax deeds, warranties and related transaction documents.
- Advise on VAT, stamp taxes, international tax matters and tax disputes.
- Support clients in the venture capital space, including tax-efficient investment structures and share incentive arrangements.
- Prepare applications to HMRC for SEIS/EIS relief and associated investor certificates.
- Assist with the implementation of employee share incentive schemes.
- Communicate directly with clients, take instructions and manage day-to-day matters efficiently.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, client relationship management and marketing activity.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor with 2-5 years' PQE in corporate tax or transactional tax matters.
Strong technical knowledge across corporate tax, ideally gained within a reputable private practice team.
Experience supporting M&A, corporate reorganisations or investment transactions.
Excellent drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in client-facing situations.
Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
Commercially aware and able to deliver pragmatic, client-focused advice.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Skills:
Experience advising on venture capital or private equity transactions.
Familiarity with share incentive schemes and HMRC clearance applications.
Exposure to international tax or cross-border transactions.
