Senior Associate - Court of Protection | National Firm | Birmingham | Hybrid Working Available
BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a highly regarded national law firm in its search for a Senior Associate to join its expanding Court of Protection team in Birmingham. This is a standout opportunity for a senior-level solicitor with expertise in property and financial affairs matters, and a passion for client care and team leadership.
The Role
Working closely with an experienced Partner who specialises in high-value damages management and complex trust applications, you'll take on a caseload of high-value and/or complex Court of Protection matters. You'll also have the opportunity to lead and mentor a small team, with a focus on both supervision and business development.
Clients include individuals who lack mental capacity, with the firm regularly instructed on deputyship and trustee appointments arising from clinical negligence and personal injury settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied and complex CoP caseload including deputyships, statutory wills, and property and financial affairs matters
- Supervising and mentoring junior colleagues
- Supporting the wider team in business development and client relationship management
- Leading on client matters and ensuring seamless delivery of service
- Working collaboratively with other specialists across private client, personal injury, and trusts
The Candidate
Qualified solicitor or legal executive (CILEX), likely 6+ PQE
Significant experience advising on Court of Protection property and financial affairs matters
Able to manage complex cases and communicate clearly with vulnerable clients and their families
Proven ability to supervise, lead and mentor junior lawyers
Commercially aware with a track record in business development and referrer management
A confident and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
