Contentious Construction Associate | London Are you a construction disputes lawyer looking to take the next step in your legal career? A highly respected London-based law firm is looking to appoint a skilled Contentious Construction Associate (3-5 PQE) to join its standout team, recognised for its work on some of the UK's and Europe's most complex infrastructure and engineering disputes. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded solicitor to engage with high-value, multi-jurisdictional construction litigation and arbitration, working directly with an enviable client base across the public and private sectors. You will join a dynamic and established contentious construction team known for handling landmark cases in the built environment. The firm's portfolio includes developers, contractors, investment funds, and cultural institutions, and the team is regularly instructed on some of the most high-profile projects in the UK, including Hinkley Point C, Battersea Power Station, HS2, and other flagship commercial developments in London and beyond. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and assist on construction and engineering disputes across a wide spectrum of sectors including infrastructure, commercial real estate, energy, and heritage. - Represent clients in litigation, domestic and international arbitration, adjudication, and other forms of ADR. - Advise on risk management, dispute avoidance, and strategic project delivery from pre-dispute stage through to resolution. - Work closely with leading counsel, technical experts, and internal multidisciplinary teams. - Draft and negotiate construction contracts and dispute-related documents, with exposure to JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke forms. - Play an active role in client relationship management and business development initiatives. The Candidate: - 3-5 years' PQE gained at a top-tier UK or international firm, or a specialist construction practice. - A strong focus on construction and engineering disputes, with hands-on experience in contentious work. - Proven familiarity with standard form construction contracts and associated dispute processes. - Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with a detail-driven, solution-oriented mindset. - A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work directly with clients and industry stakeholders. - A genuine interest in the construction and infrastructure sectors and their legal complexities. The Opportunity: - The chance to work on career-defining construction disputes at the forefront of the industry. - A competitive London market salary, generous benefits, and transparent progression pathways. - A collegiate and forward-thinking firm culture that supports development, flexibility, and diversity. - Close mentorship from industry-leading partners and a team that values initiative and ambition. - Exposure to international work, with real client contact and cross-border collaboration. If you're a construction disputes lawyer ready for a fresh challenge with real growth potential, we'd love to hear from you. This is a compelling opportunity to accelerate your career with a firm that combines top-tier work with a supportive, engaging culture.
