Construction Litigation Associate | International Law Firm | City of London A rare opportunity has arisen for a talented construction disputes lawyer to join the London office of a highly respected international firm, renowned for its top-tier work across the infrastructure, energy, and real estate sectors. This role offers exposure to some of the most complex and high-value contentious construction matters in the market including litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC), adjudications, and international arbitrations alongside a clear pathway for career progression within a collegiate and high-performing team. The continued growth and success of this market-leading construction practice has created the need for an additional associate to support an expanding portfolio of contentious work. Acting for a broad spectrum of clients from developers and funders to contractors, consultants and public bodies, the team advises on complex disputes arising from major UK and international projects. You'll play a central role in advising on construction and engineering disputes at all stages, from strategic risk management to formal proceedings. The work is intellectually stimulating, varied across sectors, and offers genuine client contact and early responsibility. Key Responsibilities: - Advising on a wide range of contentious construction issues including litigation, adjudication, international arbitration, and dispute avoidance strategies. - Acting for clients across sectors such as commercial real estate, infrastructure, energy, life sciences, and transport. - Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments, warranties, and ancillary documents as part of dispute resolution and settlement processes. - Working closely with colleagues across Real Estate, Projects, Banking, and Infrastructure on large-scale, cross-disciplinary matters. - Contributing to business development, including pitches and client relationship initiatives. - Supporting the supervision and development of junior lawyers within the team. Candidate Requirements: - Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 1 year PQE in contentious construction matters, ideally from a City, international or top-tier regional firm. - Experience of the adjudication process and TCC litigation, with the ability to draft pleadings, witness statements, and expert reports. - Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. - Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in understanding clients' businesses and objectives. - Strong drafting ability, attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. - A collaborative mindset, with the ambition to build a long-term career within a leading practice. The Opportunity: This is a team that combines high-end legal work with a genuine investment in the development and success of its people. Associates are trusted with early responsibility, encouraged to shape client relationships, and supported to progress whether toward partnership or other long-term ambitions. You'll join a dynamic, high-performing team that is collaborative, approachable and known for its strong internal culture. The firm offers a modern, agile working environment, a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, and an impressive platform of FTSE100 and global clients.
