Projects Lawyer (Renewable Energy & Infrastructure) | International Law Firm | City of London
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Projects Lawyer to join the highly regarded Projects team of a leading international law firm in London. This role offers the chance to work on complex, high-value mandates across the renewable energy, infrastructure, and broader energy transition sectors both in the UK and internationally.
You'll take a leading role in advising developers, sponsors, funders and Tier 1 contractors on the structuring, negotiation and delivery of some of the most innovative and impactful infrastructure and clean energy projects globally. This is a strategic career move for a seasoned lawyer who wants to lead, influence and deliver top-tier legal work - within a collaborative, high-performing team known for its technical excellence and sector depth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on project development and construction matters across sectors such as renewables (wind, solar, battery storage), energy-from-waste (EfW), water, and broader infrastructure.
- Draft, negotiate and advise on EPC contracts, PPAs, O&M agreements, and credit support packages.
- Work closely with international developers, sponsors, funders, and major contractors.
- Advise across all stages of project delivery, including bankability assessments, risk allocation and lender-side due diligence.
- Operate across multiple jurisdictions, bringing commercial and regulatory insight to large-scale energy and infrastructure developments.
- Support the development of junior team members and help strengthen key client relationships.
Candidate Requirements:
- UK-qualified solicitor, with 7+ years' PQE gained in a top-tier projects, energy or construction practice (in private practice or in-house).
- Deep experience advising on project development in the renewable energy, EfW, water, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of FIDIC, NEC and other standard forms, and experience adapting contracts to bespoke arrangements.
- Proven ability to lead complex transactions and deliver clear, commercially driven advice.
- Experience advising on project finance transactions, including borrower/lender risk allocation and due diligence.
- A confident, client-facing approach, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work autonomously on major deals.
