A leading UK Law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Contentious Construction team, in London. With an impressive client base, complex high-value work, and an ambitious growth trajectory, this is an excellent opportunity for a driven construction litigator to make a meaningful impact.
The Opportunity:
This is a dynamic and forward-thinking practice advising developers, contractors, subcontractors, real estate funds, and construction businesses on a full range of contentious matters. The team has carved out a strong reputation in building safety disputes, particularly in relation to evolving legislation and regulation, including cladding and structural safety cases.
You will work alongside recognised partners and experts in the field, advising on disputes across adjudication, arbitration, and litigation. The firm encourages early responsibility, close client contact, and offers a clear route to progression for ambitious lawyers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on complex contentious construction matters, including delay and disruption claims, final accounts, professional negligence, construction insolvency, and bond claims.
- Handle matters across the full dispute resolution spectrum: adjudication, arbitration, litigation (TCC), and mediation.
- Advise blue-chip clients on building safety claims, including those involving fire safety and structural defects under new legislation.
- Work collaboratively with partners and junior lawyers, delegating effectively and contributing to team development.
- Provide commercially focused legal advice, always with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Manage client relationships and become a trusted advisor, while helping to grow the team's profile in the market.
- Instruct and liaise with counsel and external experts as required.
- Keep up to date with key legal developments, contributing to internal training and external thought leadership.
- Play an active role in business development, networking, and marketing initiatives.
About You:
- 5+ years' PQE (or equivalent) in contentious construction law, ideally gained in a top-tier UK firm or specialist boutique.
- Strong working knowledge of TCC litigation, adjudication, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
- A proven ability to manage complex cases independently and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and client-handling skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships.
- A commercial, pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
- A willingness to contribute to the wider success of the team through profile-raising and BD activity.
- Interest in emerging issues in building safety, regulation, and sustainability within the construction sector.
