Construction Lawyer (Non-Contentious)
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced non-contentious construction lawyer to join a market-leading Construction & Engineering team in London, advising on high-value, non-contentious construction matters for a blue-chip client base.
This role will particularly appeal to construction lawyers who enjoy complex, commercially driven work, close client relationships and the opportunity to shape their practice within a collaborative, high-performing team.
The Opportunity
You will work on a broad mix of non-contentious construction matters, supporting major development and infrastructure projects across the UK. The team advises household-name clients on some of the most significant real estate, infrastructure and energy projects currently underway.
The role offers exposure to:
- Major development and infrastructure projects
- Real estate and corporate acquisitions and disposals
- Property finance transactions
- Process plant and power generation contracts
- The team includes partners and senior lawyers with in-house backgrounds at major industry players, making this an excellent environment for candidates from either private practice or industry.
The Role
As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice while supporting the continued growth of the practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on non-contentious construction matters across development and infrastructure projects
- Drafting and negotiating standard form and bespoke construction documentation
- Working closely with clients to deliver practical, solutions-focused advice
- Collaborating with colleagues across real estate, corporate and finance teams
- Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team development
Candidate Profile
The team is open-minded as to background and encourages applications from lawyers with strong technical foundations and commercial awareness.
You are likely to have:
- 6+ years' PQE in construction law
- Strong experience advising on non-contentious construction matters
- Demonstrable expertise in JCT and NEC contracts, development agreements and associated documentation
- Exposure to process plant contracts (desirable but not essential)
- Experience acting for employers/developers (contractor or supply-side experience also welcomed)
- A collaborative approach and interest in mentoring junior colleagues
