This is an exciting chance to play a key role in a fast-growing practice at the forefront of advising on the most significant construction and building safety reforms in a generation, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021. The firm is recognised in both Legal 500 and Chambers UK and offers excellent career progression, early responsibility, and the opportunity to work on high-profile matters that regularly attract national attention. The Construction, Engineering & Procurement team is one of the largest specialist practices in the UK, advising developers, funders, contractors, local authorities, housing associations, and investment funds. With a strong reputation for its expertise in building and fire safety law, the team is regularly instructed on some of the most complex and high-value development projects in the housing and infrastructure sectors. You will be working alongside a collegiate and supportive group of 30+ fee-earners, including senior experts in both contentious and non-contentious construction law. The Role: - Lead and manage a varied caseload of non-contentious construction matters, advising on procurement strategy, contract drafting and negotiation. - Draft and negotiate a wide range of construction documents, including building contracts, development agreements, professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees. - Advise clients on procurement structures (traditional, design & build, management contracting, two-stage tendering and JV arrangements). - Develop in-depth expertise across key contract suites, particularly JCT and NEC, with exposure to FIDIC and PFI/PPP contracts. - Build and manage strong client relationships, including RPs, developers, contractors and public sector organisations. - Contribute to the team's thought leadership through articles, seminars, webinars and client training. - Support the professional development of junior colleagues, offering mentoring and technical guidance. Candidate Requirements: - At least 4 years' PQE in non-contentious construction law, gained at a leading City, national or specialist practice. - Excellent drafting, negotiation and project-management skills, with the ability to run matters independently. - A strong technical knowledge of construction procurement methods and the JCT suite of contracts (NEC/FIDIC advantageous). - A proactive, client-focused approach with confidence in advising stakeholders across the construction and housing sectors. - An interest in developing sector expertise in building safety law and related regulatory reforms. - Strong communication skills and an enthusiasm for business development and networking. The Opportunity: - Direct client exposure and responsibility for complex, high-value projects. - The opportunity to specialise in cutting-edge areas of construction law, including building safety and fire safety regulation. - A supportive culture that values collaboration, mentoring, and professional development. - Agile working, alongside access to a new modern City office environment.
