Senior Associate - Construction Litigation | London
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Associate in Construction Litigation to join a leading London law firm at a pivotal stage of growth. This is a rare opportunity to work on high-profile, complex UK construction disputes, advising blue-chip clients across the real estate, development, and construction sectors.
The firm's Building Safety team is a key differentiator, providing strategic guidance in a rapidly evolving and highly regulated legal landscape. You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers, delivering cutting-edge legal solutions on matters that shape the industry.
This role offers the chance to significantly influence the team's growth and strategy while building your personal profile within a market-leading practice.
About the Firm
The firm has almost 200 lawyers in a single London location, providing a collaborative environment where teams are tailored to client needs. They advise major corporates, institutions, private equity-backed businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures, delivering innovative and commercially astute solutions.
The firm combines market-leading business law capability with a substantial private wealth offering, making it a compelling alternative to larger, less personal firms.
Colleagues describe a culture that is non-hierarchical, pragmatic, and supportive, where success is shared, individual contribution is recognised, and professional development is actively encouraged. There are also opportunities to engage in pro bono work, charity initiatives, and social and wellbeing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex construction disputes from start to finish, including adjudication, arbitration, expert determination, litigation, and enforcement proceedings in the TCC.
- Provide autonomous, strategic advice on matters such as final account and delay claims, quality of build, construction insolvency, bond claims, fire and structural safety under new legislation, professional indemnity, and insurance-related disputes.
- Offer commercial and technical guidance to clients, assessing risk and proposing innovative solutions in partnership with senior colleagues.
- Lead and supervise junior lawyers, providing coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, becoming a trusted advisor across multiple matters.
- Manage projects efficiently, including instructing counsel, liaising with experts, and attending client and stakeholder meetings.
- Stay at the forefront of construction law developments, sharing insight and best practice across the team and wider firm.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience handling contentious construction matters at a senior level.
- Strong knowledge of adjudication, arbitration, and litigation processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
- Confident communication and client-facing expertise, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor.
- A commercial, pragmatic approach to problem-solving and technical legal analysis.
- Capability to supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to team development.
- Willingness to contribute to business development and profile-raising activities.
- Broad technical knowledge across real estate and construction law.
Why This Role?
This is a career-defining opportunity for a senior construction litigator looking to enhance their profile, work on cutting-edge disputes, and influence the growth of a leading practice. The role offers autonomy, client exposure, and the chance to mentor the next generation of lawyers in a supportive and ambitious environment.
