Projects Lawyer - Energy | London
A highly regarded UK law firm with a long-standing City presence is seeking to recruit a talented Solicitor to join its growing London-based Projects (Energy) practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to build a long-term career within a highly regarded Energy and Projects team, advising on market-leading work at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, public sector projects and social housing.
The firm is a well-known UK practice with over 150 years of history, operating from multiple offices across England. It is consistently ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers UK and is recognised as a Tier 1 adviser to registered providers of social housing, alongside a growing client base of private developers, investors and funds.
Despite its scale (350+ lawyers and staff), the firm retains a collaborative, collegiate culture, offering high-quality work, partner access and genuine scope for progression.
The role sits within the Projects team, part of a broader Real Estate and Projects group that is central to the firm's strategy and client offering. The team is led by experienced partners and advises on a diverse range of complex and high-profile matters, including:
- Energy and infrastructure projects
- Public procurement and PPP/PFI arrangements
- Commercial and project documentation
- Joint ventures and public-private partnerships
The firm is investing heavily in this area, making this a strong platform for solicitors looking to develop specialist expertise and progress towards senior associate and partnership level.
You will advise clients across the energy and projects sector, with a particular emphasis on energy transition and infrastructure projects. The work is varied, technically engaging and commercially significant.
Key areas of work include:
- Advising on heat networks
- Structuring and procuring ESCO arrangements, energy supply and customer supply agreements
- Advising on renewable energy and PV projects, including retrofit schemes
- Supporting clients on EV charging infrastructure and wider energy assets
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and project documentation
- Involvement in broader PFI/PPP and projects work, depending on experience
You will manage matters with appropriate supervision, work directly with clients, and play an active role in business development and relationship building.
You will be a UK-qualified solicitor with 2-6 years' PQE, ideally with experience in energy, projects, infrastructure or related commercial work.
The firm is keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong drafting and technical skills
- Experience advising on energy or infrastructure projects (PFI/PPP experience welcomed)
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic, client-focused approach
- Confidence managing matters and interacting directly with clients
- An interest in the social housing and public sector space (beneficial but not essential)
- CILEx Lawyers with Higher Rights are also encouraged to apply.
The firm operates a hybrid working model, with an expectation of three days per week in the office, supporting collaboration, training and career development.
This role offers a rare combination of specialist energy and projects work, a stable and respected client base, and a clear long-term career trajectory within a firm that is continuing to grow.
It will particularly appeal to solicitors seeking to deepen their expertise in energy, infrastructure and regulated projects, while enjoying the benefits of a mid-sized firm with top-tier credentials.
