Real Estate Associate | International Law Firm | City of London
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Real Estate Associate to join a highly regarded London-based real estate practice within an international law firm known for the quality of its work, its sector focus, and its collaborative culture.
This role will suit a junior to mid-level commercial real estate lawyer who is keen to take on early responsibility, work on high-value and complex transactions, and develop a long-term career within a growing and ambitious real estate team.
You will join a 40-strong London real estate team, including multiple recognised partners and a deep bench of experienced associates. The practice is widely respected for advising on high-profile commercial and residential property transactions, both in the UK and internationally.
The firm offers a genuinely supportive environment where associates are trusted early, encouraged to build client relationships, and given exposure to landmark transactions across investment, development and asset management. This is a role for someone who wants to be more than a passenger; you will be encouraged to help shape matters, contribute to business development, and take ownership of your career progression.
The real estate practice advises a broad and sophisticated client base, including:
- Major property companies and developers
- Institutional investors and funds
- Banks and financial institutions
- Hotel and leisure groups
- Public sector bodies and corporate occupiers
Work includes:
- Investment acquisitions and disposals
- Commercial landlord and tenant matters
- Asset management
- Development projects (including planning and environmental aspects)
- Real estate finance, refinancing and structured transactions
- Sale and leaseback arrangements
The team works closely with colleagues in finance, tax, corporate and construction, offering associates valuable cross-practice exposure and a genuinely joined-up approach to client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on legal and commercial risk in complex real estate transactions
- Drafting and negotiating clear, accurate and commercially focused documentation
- Managing transactions and liaising directly with clients
- Conducting legal research using internal and external knowledge resources
- Building strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Developing an internal and external professional network
- Supporting business development initiatives, client events and profile-raising activities
- Contributing to thought leadership, articles and knowledge sharing within the team
You will be an England & Wales qualified solicitor with solid experience in commercial real estate, likely gained at a recognised City or strong regional practice.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience advising on investment transactions, landlord and tenant work and asset management (development experience is advantageous but not essential)
- Confidence dealing with demanding corporate and institutional clients
- Strong drafting, technical and analytical skills
- The ability to manage matters with increasing autonomy and take responsibility for transactions
- Commercial awareness and an interest in the wider property market
- A collaborative, professional and proactive approach
- Excellent academic background and attention to detail
This role will particularly appeal to lawyers who are ambitious, engaged and keen to play an active role in the growth of a leading real estate practice.
Why Consider This Firm?
- High-quality, varied real estate work with genuine responsibility from an early stage
- Clear commitment to associate development and progression
- Competitive remuneration and recognition based on all-round performance
- A collaborative, inclusive and straightforward culture
- Exposure to international clients and cross-border matters
- A firm with a clear growth strategy and strong sector focus
The firm is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds. Flexible working and accessibility requirements are supported wherever possible.
