Projects Lawyer - Energy and Infrastructure | International Law Firm | London
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Projects Lawyer to join a highly regarded and award-winning team advising on complex UK and international energy, infrastructure and government projects.
This role offers exposure to high-profile, nationally significant mandates and the chance to work alongside recognised leaders in the projects space within a collaborative, multi-office team. Due to a sustained pipeline of major UK project mandates, this leading international law firm is seeking a talented Associate to join its established Projects & Infrastructure team in London.
You will work across a diverse portfolio of energy, infrastructure, defence and government projects, advising both public sector clients and private sector developers/sponsors on all stages of project development.
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for lawyers looking to develop a broad projects practice across multiple sectors, gain exposure to complex, high-value UK government work, transition from in-house or public sector roles into private practice (or vice versa), and work within a genuinely flexible and supportive team environment.
The Projects team operates as a fully integrated group across the UK and internationally, with a strong reputation recognised in leading legal directories and industry awards. The team brings together lawyers with expertise across project development and commercial contracts, public procurement and regulated environments, project finance and construction, and sector specialisms including defence and nuclear.
You will advise on a wide range of UK energy, infrastructure and defence projects, including:
- Structuring and negotiating project agreements
- Advising on procurement strategy and processes
- Supporting project delivery from inception through to operation
- Acting for both government bodies and private sector sponsors
- Current and recent mandates include:
- Major UK infrastructure developments, including nationally significant transport projects
- High-value Ministry of Defence programmes
- Nuclear decommissioning projects
- PPP/PFI lifecycle and handback work
Candidate requirements:
- England and Wales qualified with a minimum of 2 years PQE
- Experience advising on PPP/PFI, EPC contracts, PPAs or O&M agreements
- Exposure to UK public procurement (PCR) (desirable, not essential)
- Experience in regulated or government-facing environments (including in-house)
- An interest in sectors such as energy, defence, or nuclear
- Strong commercial awareness and project management skills
- A proactive approach to client development and teamwork
