Construction Litigation Associate | International Law Firm | City of London
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Litigation Associate to join a high-performing Construction & Engineering team at a prominent international law firm, based in the City of London.
This role offers exposure to a broad mix of project advisory and disputes work, acting for major clients across a range of sectors, alongside clear opportunities for career development, responsibility and client engagement.
Due to continued growth and an increase in high-quality instructions, the team is looking to appoint a specialist construction disputes lawyer to play a key role in delivering complex and commercially significant matters. You will advise on both project advisory work on live construction and engineering projects, helping clients manage risk and avoid disputes; and, formal dispute resolution, including adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration and mediation.
The team is widely recognised for its collaborative culture and early responsibility, offering associates the opportunity to take a lead role on key aspects of matters while benefiting from strong partner support and mentorship. Part of a broader Real Estate and Projects offering, the Construction & Engineering team is known for delivering commercially focused, pragmatic advice across a diverse client base. Work spans multiple sectors, including:
- Living / residential development (with a strong focus on building safety)
- Transport & infrastructure
- Energy & waste
- Industrial engineering and PFI projects
You will work closely with colleagues across non-contentious construction, real estate and projects teams, providing a fully integrated service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on contentious construction and engineering matters, including both disputes and project advisory work
- Handling disputes across adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration and mediation
- Advising on issues such as delay and extensions of time, liquidated damages, defects and additional cost claims
- Assisting with the preparation of witness and expert evidence
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, counsel and experts
About You:
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 3+ years' PQE in contentious construction
- Strong experience in adjudication and High Court litigation, and Construction and engineering disputes
- Good understanding of construction project structures and contractual frameworks
- Experience of key dispute issues, including delay, defects and cost claims
- Exposure to arbitration and/or mediation (desirable but not essential)
- Experience managing document-heavy matters and disclosure processes
- Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels
