Data Protection Lawyer | London
We are seeking a commercially minded Data Protection Lawyer to join a leading UK law firm's dynamic Data, Privacy & Cyber team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to develop their expertise in a rapidly expanding practice recognised in Tier 2 of the Legal 500.
The team provides full-service advice across data protection, privacy, cyber security, AI governance, and regulatory compliance, supporting a diverse client base including financial institutions, insurers, retailers, technology providers, and major corporates. The role primarily focuses on advisory work, with the option to gain exposure to cyber-related matters.

- Develop expertise in complex regulatory landscapes, including UK and EU data protection laws.
- Engage in strategic business development and client-facing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on all aspects of UK and international data protection law and regulatory frameworks.
- Support the rollout of global initiatives, including AI-related projects.
- Draft and manage responses to the ICO and other regulators.
- Assist with regulatory investigations, enforcement work, and contentious matters.
- Collaborate across practice areas, including Technology, Commercial, Healthcare Regulatory, and Insurance.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and client growth.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and trainees.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 4+ PQE.
- Strong academic record at degree and A-levels (or equivalent).
- Experience advising on data protection and privacy law in a law firm or in-house.
- Excellent understanding of UK/EU regimes and regulatory guidance.
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and client relationships.
- Proactive in business development, with a record of successful client engagement or pitch contributions.
- Strong drafting skills and the ability to deliver clear, commercially-focused advice.
- Experience or interest in cybersecurity or data-breach response is advantageous.
