CONSTRUCTION DISPUTES LAWYER | LONDON
A leading national law firm is seeking a talented Construction Disputes Solicitor to join its highly regarded Construction team in London. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious lawyer looking to work on complex, high-value construction litigation matters while advising an impressive portfolio of public and private sector clients.
The team has a strong reputation across the infrastructure, projects and construction sectors, acting on some of the most significant and strategically important matters in the market. With expertise spanning the full life-cycle of construction and infrastructure projects, the team advises clients from project inception through to operational issues, disputes, contract termination and expiry.
This role offers exposure to high-profile work across the healthcare, local government, emergency services and social housing sectors, including involvement in nationally significant infrastructure and PFI projects.
The Opportunity:
Joining a collaborative and growing team, you will work on a broad range of contentious construction matters, advising clients on complex disputes arising from major construction and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload while working closely with partners and colleagues across multiple offices and practice areas. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise, client relationship skills and sector knowledge within a supportive and progressive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising clients on a wide range of construction and engineering disputes.
- Handling disputes arising under JCT and NEC contracts.
- Managing adjudications and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
- Conducting pre-action investigations and correspondence.
- Assessing claims and advising clients on litigation strategy and risk.
- Preparing instructions to counsel and external experts.
- Managing disclosure exercises and document reviews.
- Assisting with witness evidence and expert reports.
- Supporting clients through all stages of litigation, including trial preparation.
- Drafting legal correspondence and negotiating with opposing parties.
- Working closely with clients to deliver practical, commercially focused advice.
Candidate Requirements:
- At least 3 years PQE
- Experience advising on construction litigation matters.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Experience of adjudication and alternative dispute resolution processes.
- Exposure to the litigation process from pre-action stages through to trial preparation.
- The ability to analyse complex contractual arrangements and identify commercial and legal risks.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Strong client management and relationship-building abilities.
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
