This is an excellent opportunity for a senior non-contentious construction lawyer to take a prominent role within a market-leading practice, advising on some of the UK's most significant and strategically important real estate, infrastructure, energy and development projects.
The role offers substantial client exposure, high-quality work and the opportunity to play an important part in the continued growth of the London practice, while working alongside colleagues across a highly collaborative national Construction & Engineering team.
The Construction & Engineering team advises on major regeneration, infrastructure, energy, industrial and development projects across the UK for a client base that includes includes developers, investors, funders, public sector organisations, contractors, consultants and occupiers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on the procurement, negotiation and drafting of construction, infrastructure and engineering documentation.
- Leading negotiations on both standard and bespoke construction contracts, including JCT, NEC and FIDIC forms.
- Advising on development agreements, forward funding arrangements, development finance transactions and real estate-led construction projects.
- Supporting major infrastructure, energy, industrial, remediation and process plant projects.
- Advising clients on construction risk management, project delivery strategies and market best practice.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across Real Estate, Corporate, Finance, Projects and Regulatory teams on multidisciplinary transactions.
- Taking responsibility for complex matters and managing projects effectively from inception through to completion.
We are keen to hear from experienced non-contentious construction solicitors who combine strong technical expertise with a commercial, proactive and client-focused approach. You will ideally have:
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC and/or other standard-form construction contracts.
- Strong experience advising on development projects, financing arrangements and procurement structures.
- A detailed understanding of construction, infrastructure and engineering risk allocation.
- Experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
