A leading UK law firm is seeking an ambitious Contentious Construction Solicitor to join its highly regarded national Construction practice, in London.
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for a construction disputes solicitor looking to take the next step in their career within a sophisticated, growing practice. You will work alongside market-leading construction specialists on a varied portfolio of high-value and complex disputes, as well as strategic project and risk matters.
The team advises an impressive client base spanning developers, contractors, consultants, funders, investors and public sector organisations, with work connected to some of the UK's most significant development, regeneration, infrastructure and energy projects.
Your role will encompass a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters, including:
- Advising developers, contractors, consultants, funders, investors and public sector clients on complex construction disputes and engineering disputes.
- Acting in adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings.
- Advising on disputes arising under JCT, NEC and bespoke construction contracts.
- Supporting clients with dispute avoidance, project risk management and strategic commercial advice.
- Handling matters with increasing autonomy and taking responsibility for key workstreams and client relationships.
- Working closely with colleagues across Construction, Real Estate, Energy & Infrastructure, Corporate and Restructuring to deliver joined-up advice.
- Building and strengthening client relationships and playing an active role in business development and practice growth.
- Supervising, supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
The Contentious Construction team advises on complex construction disputes and strategic project issues across sectors including commercial real estate, residential development, infrastructure, energy and the public sector. The team's work spans the full project lifecycle, from helping clients identify and manage risk at the outset through to resolving disputes when they arise.
We are keen to hear from qualified solicitors with approximately 3-8 years' PQE who have developed a strong contentious construction practice and are ready to take their career further. You will ideally have:
- A strong track record in contentious construction and engineering disputes.
- Experience of adjudication, litigation and/or arbitration.
- Good knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT, NEC and bespoke forms.
- Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.
- The confidence to manage matters and workstreams with appropriate autonomy.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers.
- A proactive approach to business development and client relationship management.
- A collaborative mindset and an enthusiasm for working as part of a national team.
