Construction Lawyer (Professional Indemnity) | International Law Firm - City of London A specialist international law firm is seeking an ambitious Construction Associate to join its London team. This is an opportunity to develop your expertise within a highly regarded construction and insurance practice, working on a varied caseload of high-value, technically complex and often international disputes. You will work closely with leading insurers and a broad range of construction-sector clients, including contractors, consultants, architects, engineers and other construction professionals. With exposure to complex claims, insurance coverage issues, litigation, arbitration and ADR, the role offers an excellent platform for a lawyer looking to build a long-term career in construction professional indemnity and insurance disputes. You will become part of a specialist team advising clients across the construction and insurance sectors, with the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility for your own matters while working alongside experienced lawyers recognised for their expertise. Your work is likely to include: - Acting and advising on professional indemnity claims against construction professionals, including engineers, architects, surveyors and design-and-build contractors. - Managing disputes through the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes. - Working on litigated claims before the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) and other Courts of England and Wales. - Assisting with domestic and international arbitration matters. - Advising on and participating in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including negotiation and mediation. - Advising professional clients and their insurers on case strategy, liability and cost reserves. - Instructing and working closely with Counsel, liability experts and quantum experts. - Developing your knowledge and experience of complex insurance coverage and policy issues. - Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and contributing to the delivery of commercially focused solutions. We are keen to hear from UK-qualified solicitors with approximately 3+ years' PQE who have experience in construction disputes, professional indemnity, insurance litigation or a closely related area. You do not need to have experience across every aspect of the role. More important is a genuine interest in developing a career within construction professional indemnity and insurance disputes, together with strong technical foundations. You will ideally bring: - Experience of construction disputes and/or professional indemnity claims. - Exposure to claims involving construction professionals such as architects, engineers, surveyors or contractors. - Experience of litigation, arbitration and/or ADR. - An interest in developing expertise in construction insurance and coverage. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - A commercially minded approach, with the ability to provide practical advice. - Strong client relationship and matter management skills. - The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. - A proactive approach to your own professional development and career progression.
