An elite international law firm is seeking a mid-level associate (3-6 years of post-qualification experience) to join its Public Mergers & Acquisitions practice based in Washington, D.C. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leading practitioners on high-profile, complex domestic and cross-border transactions involving public companies across a range of industries.
The successful candidate will advise clients on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, including tender offers, mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic business combinations. The role will also involve providing guidance on securities law compliance, corporate governance matters, fiduciary duties, and disclosure obligations, as well as assisting boards and senior management teams in navigating the regulatory landscape associated with public company transactions.
Candidates should bring a strong foundation in corporate and transactional law, with a particular emphasis on public company M&A. Experience in technology, life sciences, or other innovation-driven sectors will be considered a strong advantage. The ideal applicant will have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, lead due diligence processes, negotiate transaction documents, and coordinate effectively across practice areas including tax, antitrust, executive compensation, and regulatory.
The firm places a strong emphasis on collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth, offering associates direct exposure to clients and meaningful participation in strategic decision-making. Candidates must possess excellent academic credentials, superior drafting, analytical, and communication skills, and a commitment to delivering practical, business-oriented legal advice. Admission to a state bar (or eligibility to obtain one, such as the D.C. Bar) is required.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented lawyer to develop a diverse transactional skill set and play a key role in complex, market-shaping M&A matters for some of the world's most sophisticated clients.
