- ECVC Associate
Salary:
$310,000 - 365,000
Reference Number:
GM/198060/01
The Firm
A nationally recognized, full-service Am Law 100 firm with one of the most established ECVC practices in the country. The group is consistently top-ranked by Chambers and Legal 500 and works in close coordination with the firm's Life Sciences, Technology, and Private Equity groups nationally.
The New York Team
The New York office is home to one of the practice's co-heads, a nationally recognized technology and venture specialist with deep relationships across the national and international start-up ecosystem. The NY team handles a high volume of institutional VC fund representation alongside emerging growth company work, with recent deal flow spanning fintech, enterprise software, and healthtech financings, as well as fund formation and SPAC-related matters. The team is known in the market for combining sophisticated fund-side work with a strong emerging-company book - a mix that gives associates broad exposure rather than a narrow lane.
The Role
* Run point on venture financings across all stages, representing both companies and institutional investors/funds
* Support fund formation matters for VC clients - a differentiator versus firms with a purely company-side ECVC practice
* Advise on M&A-adjacent matters for portfolio companies (exits, strategic acquisitions) alongside core financing work
* Direct partner access and origination exposure at a level not always available at larger, more deal-team-heavy platforms
* Strong trajectory toward senior associate responsibility, with associates regularly running deals with minimal partner oversight by year 5
What's on Offer
* Cravath-scale compensation
* Standard Am Law 100 billable hour target
* High-caliber, sophisticated deal flow (fund formation + financings + exits) that broadens skill set beyond a typical financings-only ECVC seat
* Strong platform pedigree and brand recognition with both VC and startup clients - a meaningful credential for future in-house or fund-side moves
