A top-tier international law firm - a global leader in finance, private credit, and restructuring - is seeking a Finance Associate for its Private Credit & Special Situations team in New York. This is a compelling opportunity to join a high-performing restructuring practice that combines elite leveraged finance work with cutting-edge special situations transactions.
You'll be well-suited for this role if you bring:
5-7 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with a strong background in leveraged finance - including acquisition financing (especially sponsor-backed, middle-market deals), term-loans, working-capital facilities, unitranche financings, intercreditor arrangements and commitment-letter / sponsor-grid processes.
Historic exposure to a broad array of complex debt-financing transactions, complemented by an intellectual curiosity about restructuring and distressed or special-situations work. While distressed-credit experience is a plus, a robust leveraged-finance foundation and eagerness to expand into workouts and in- or out-of-court restructurings is sufficient.
Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing; strong academic credentials and solid law-firm pedigree.
If selected, you'll be part of a practice with real global heft. The firm counts more than 1,200 lawyers worldwide and is celebrated for delivering business-savvy, creative, and high-calibre legal solutions to leading investment banks, asset managers, funds, sponsors and corporations. The Financial Restructuring Group alone comprises 100+ lawyers globally, offering cross-border reach, sector-diverse mandates (from energy and telecommunications to real estate, manufacturing, hospitality and more) and bespoke restructuring strategies tailored to each client's unique challenges.
As a member of the Private Credit & Special Situations team, you will:
Work on new performing credit and leveraged-finance mandates;
Gain exposure to special situations - workouts, distressed credit, debtorin-possession financings, complex restructurings (in-court and out-of-court), and rescue financing;
Collaborate with top-tier private credit funds, opportunistic debt funds, ad hoc lender groups, commercial and investment banks, as well as corporate borrowers and private-equity sponsors.
The firm's culture emphasises collaboration, excellence, and the development of outstanding legal talent. You will join a collegial, intellectually rigorous environment where creativity, teamwork and commercial awareness are valued.
