Associate - Complex Commercial Litigation 2-6th yrs

A well regarded litigation firm is seeking a second through fifth year commercial litigation associate to join its New York office. The position is within a focused commercial litigation practice that handles complex, high stakes disputes for sophisticated clients. Associates are involved from early case assessment through trial and are expected to take real responsibility for core aspects of matters, not just discrete tasks. The group operates with lean staffing, which means associates have consistent visibility, direct partner interaction, and regular client exposure. The work includes managing written and document discovery, conducting legal research, and drafting memoranda, pleadings, and dispositive and non dispositive motions. Associates take and defend depositions, assist with witness preparation, and play an active role in trial preparation and litigation strategy. The practice places a premium on strong writing, careful analysis, and sound judgment. A key differentiator is the range of litigation experience available. The group regularly handles matters on both the defense and plaintiff side, giving associates broader exposure to case strategy, risk assessment, and procedural approaches than is typical in more siloed practices. The firm is also known for bringing cases to trial when appropriate, rather than defaulting to early settlement, which provides associates with meaningful courtroom focused experience.
