Construction Senior Associate (non contentious) 4+ PQE - Leeds A leading global firm seeks a Transactional Construction Senior Associate to join their market-leading team in Leeds. The work is technically challenging and stimulating, with an Energy and Infrastructure slant, as well as traditional built environment. THE OPPORTUNITY The Construction & Engineering team are very highly regarded when it comes to large scale projects and the matters they deal with are often complex and highly significant. Clients include government, public bodies, major multinational, national and international corporations and contractors, with a particular focus on the booming Energy & Infrastructure sectors, as well as the traditional built environment. Key Responsibilities include: · Providing strategic and commercial legal advice on major energy, infrastructure and development projects. · Acting for a wide range of national and international clients, with an emphasis on the Energy and Infrastructure sectors along with traditional built environment. · Handling your own matters with limited supervision whilst also supporting junior lawyers within the team. · Working with your colleagues across the national/international team and wider groups across the firm to support growth areas. · Taking a proactive lead in business development. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Solicitor with 4+ PQE in non-contentious construction law, gained within a large national/international practice. The following skills/experience are required: · Strong technical skills gained through working on high value construction and engineering transactions and contracts (particularly infrastructure projects). · Projects and contracts pertaining to the following are also highly favourable: Standard forms including FIDIC, NEC, iChemE, JCT; Framework Agreements; Interconnectors; collaborative contracts and alliancing; and other bespoke contracts. · The ability to understand and explain complex legal arguments and subtle interpretation differences clearly and concisely. · Exceptional communication skills, the ability to build rapport with clients and a dedication to providing top quality client service both internally and externally. · A highly organised and solid practical approach with the ability to follow procedures, meet key deadlines and manage the demands of a busy workload. · A keen desire to actively participate in business development and training activities.
