Catastrophic Injury / Large Loss Associate Defendant Personal Injury | Flexible PQE | UK An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced personal injury lawyer to join an expanding Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss team within a highly regarded, multi-award-winning firm. The team handles a broad range of high-value and complex claims, covering motor, EL/PL and indemnity work, acting for major insurers and self-insured commercial organisations. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced Partner on a varied caseload of large loss matters, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and autonomy as they develop. The role will include: Assisting with high-value, complex large loss and catastrophic injury claims Liability investigations, including taking witness statements and reviewing evidence Assessing quantum and interpreting medical records and reports Managing interlocutory matters, CMCs and court proceedings Drafting legal documents, reports and client advice Managing reporting and reserving requirements in line with client SLAs Attending court, conferences and pre-trial meetings Developing client relationships and assisting with training and case clinics Supporting Partners with existing client relationships and business development Mentoring junior members of the team and supporting NQs Developing your own caseload as experience and client relationships grow Opportunities to undertake your own advocacy are encouraged About you The firm is looking for an ambitious personal injury lawyer who is keen to progress their career and develop within a specialist large loss environment. Ideally, you will have experience of defendant large loss or catastrophic injury litigation, although candidates coming from a claimant personal injury background with strong transferable skills will also be considered. You should have: Solid experience of personal injury litigation Strong technical and analytical skills The ability to manage a caseload with a good degree of autonomy Excellent client care and communication skills The ability to work effectively in a busy, demanding environment A genuine interest in developing your career within catastrophic injury / large loss PQE is flexible and applications are welcomed from candidates with the appropriate experience and skill set, rather than being limited to a particular level.
