Risk and Compliance Manager

Our client is a full-service, commercially-focused firm based in London and Oxford and supports clients from all over the world. As a result of internal promotion they are now looking to appoint a technically excellent Risk and compliance Manager to oversee its current team. The Risk and Compliance team plays an integral part in the firms business support function, ensuring that all of the Compliance functions meet an exceptionally high standard. This team strives for excellence and it's equally important that the newly appointed Risk and compliance manager shares this vision. As this a challenging but highly rewarding role, our client is looking for an "exceptional" Risk and Compliance Manager. You will need to have a clear vison on how to promote sound risk management and implement policies and procedures that will elevate the wider legal and compliance function across the business. You will adopt an innovative approach to best practice and be passionate about what you do. The Role Reporting into the head of department, you will oversee the internal Risk and Compliance team comprising of two analysts and one senior analyst. You will assume full responsibility for the day-to-day line management of the team of analysts, ensuring the firm complies with relevant SRA regulations, in addition to managing risk in line with the firm's risk strategy particularly in relation to new clients and on-boarding procedures. You will be the primary point of escalation for risk and compliance queries covering SRA Standards and Regulations, financial crime legislation and the firm's risk and compliance policies and procedures. Undertaking staff appraisals, identify knowledge gaps, and develop the team of internal analysts. Adopt an innovative approach to improve the productivity within the wider team You will also work in close collaboration with the Head of Risk and Compliance to deliver the firm-wide risk and compliance training programme Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance with keeping abreast of changes to SRA expectations and other regulations and legislation that the firm would need to be aware of. Experience of supervising other members of the team. Demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to lead by example. Experience in delivering training in the context of Legal Risk and Compliance. Have the ability to identify knowledge gaps and individual learning styles Subject-matter expert on financial crime regulations with experience of advising on this in a law firm setting, particularly anti-money laundering and sanctions legislation. Experience of advising partners and staff on compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations, particularly in relation to conflicts of interest, confidentiality and engagement letters and wider areas such as insurance distribution activities and transparency rules. Have the proven ability to confidently approach all partners and staff across the firm, addressing queries and concerns relating to Risk and Compliance.
