BCL are delighted to be working in close collaboration with this full-service law firm based in Newcastle in their search for a Head of Risk and Compliance. Sitting within the wider Business support function of the firm the Head of Risk and Compliance will assume full responsibility for setting the standard for legal excellence across the whole business. The Role Reporting to the Managing Partner and also Compliance Officer for Legal Practice the role will include: Championing a culture of compliance throughout the firm to ensure everyone complies with the firm's external regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. As the Head of Risk and Compliance you will raise awareness and act as subject matter expert for regulatory aspects across the firm in addition to ensuring best practice compliance. A large proportion of this role will also involve complying with the SRA Regulations and therefore experience working in a Law firm is essential. This role is about managing the Risk and Compliance function as opposed to People but having said that you'll be the type of person who can come up with engaging ideas to promote the importance of Risk and Compliance and how it elevates excellence within a Law firm. Typical elements of the role can include: ·Manage the anti-money laundering policies and procedures and ensure the firm is compliant. ·Leading on the annual Lexcel accreditation process, the Law Society's legal practice quality mark for practice management and client care. ·Advising the Management Committee and COLP in the implementation of risk and compliance matters. ·Investigating all breaches of regulations ·Producing managerial reports ·Resolving conflicts To be considered for this role you will: *Have a demonstrated ability to work in a legally regulated environment e.g. Law Firm *Demonstrate a working knowledge of data protection legislation and AML procedures would be a distinct advantage. *Demonstrate the ability to work in close collaboration with a wide variety of people including Directors and Senior Partners *Have the ability to make commercial business decisions and be confident in implementing changes to the firm's compliance procedures. In addition to working to deadlines, this role is about managing the Risk and Compliance function as opposed to people, however having said that you'll be the type of person who can come up with engaging ideas to promote the importance of Risk and Compliance and how it elevates excellence within our clients business.
