Interim Head of Legal | 9-12 month FTC, with potential to extend | Bedfordshire / Hybrid
A rapidly growing UK business is looking to appoint an Interim Head of Legal to provide maternity cover during a pivotal period in its development.
The business has grown significantly in recent years, both organically and through acquisition, and is continuing to invest in the infrastructure and governance needed to support its future ambitions. This is a broad and highly visible role, offering the opportunity to work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board on a wide range of legal, commercial and strategic matters.
The role will include:
· Leading and supporting the legal team
· Advising the senior leadership team on commercial, legal and strategic matters
· Overseeing a broad range of commercial contracts
· Supporting the CEO and CFO on ongoing M&A activity
· Advising on corporate governance and Board matters
· Helping to develop the legal and governance infrastructure required to support continued growth
The business is open-minded about the precise background of the successful candidate. Ideally, you will be an experienced General Counsel, Legal Director or Head of Legal who can combine senior-level strategic advice with a willingness to remain hands-on. However, the role could equally suit someone whose experience is weighted more heavily towards either commercial legal work or corporate governance, M&A and Board support and is ready to step up.
You do not need to have covered every part of the remit previously. Strong in-house experience, sound commercial judgement and the ability to advise and constructively challenge senior stakeholders will be more important than a particular sector background or level of PQE.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and rapidly developing organisation where legal is respected and has a genuine seat at the table. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support live M&A activity, continued commercial growth and the further development of the company's governance framework.
The position will be based from the company's Bedfordshire office, with an expectation of attending one to two days per week.
The salary is dependent on experience and the scope of the role agreed with the successful candidate.
BCL Legal is an equal opportunities employer.
