In-house Data Protection Lawyer - 4+ PQE - National firm Data Protection Lawyer required to work in-house at a leading national law firm in a non-fee earning capacity. The Cambridge office of a large national firm is seeking an experienced data protection professional to join its risk team and lead on data privacy matters. This role offers the opportunity to make a first move in-house for those seeking an opportunity away from fee earning. Applicants with in-house data privacy experience are equally welcome to apply. The Role: * To oversee the firm's obligations and comply with data protection and privacy legislation. * To review and update of privacy notices, maintenance of the record of processing activities, and managing responses to data subject rights requests. * Advising on data protection impact and transfer risk assessments, supplier or client contracts and due diligence information, marketing activities involving PECR compliance and data sharing, and the firm's broader data and digital strategies. * Lead or commission appropriate data protection and privacy awareness, training and educational activities. * Be the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose data is processed. * Input into the firm's responses to client supplier assurance questionnaires, audits and bid/tender responses as they relate data protection and privacy. * Supported by the wider risk team, manage information security incidents and/or personal data breaches, including leading investigations, identifying and monitoring corrective actions and lessons to be learnt. * Work closely with the Internal Audit Manager to construct and maintain the firm's internal audit programme including reporting outcomes and ensuring identified corrective actions relating to data protection and privacy are appropriately completed. Candidate Requirements: * You will be a qualified Solicitor with at least four years' experience in data protection and privacy work whether from a private practice or in-house. Experienced data privacy professionals with BCS or CIPP Certificate or other qualification in data protection may also be considered. * You will be able to demonstrate that you are able to work autonomously. * You will have excellent technical skills.
