Head of Legal | The Overlap (Part of Global) Ready to step into a brand new Head of Legal role and help shape one of the UK's fastest-growing sports media brands? I am delighted to partner with The Overlap - the multi-award-winning content business founded around the biggest voices in football and now part of Global, one of the world's leading media and entertainment groups. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer who thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment and wants genuine ownership, visibility and influence. Based in Manchester, you'll act as the lead lawyer for a high-growth media business, reporting to the Managing Director with a dotted line reporting line into the Director of Legal at Global. Why this role? You'll be the go-to legal adviser across a diverse and exciting portfolio of work, including: Talent & Commercial Deals - Lead negotiations on talent agreements, sponsorships, content licences and brand partnerships. - Advise commercial and talent teams on high-profile opportunities. Media, Content & Growth - Support a rapidly expanding sports media business at the centre of digital content, podcasting and live experiences. - Help enable commercial growth while balancing legal and reputational risk. Corporate & Strategic Projects - Play a key role in integration and growth initiatives following The Overlap's acquisition by Global. - Support corporate transactions, due diligence and post-completion activity. Live Events & Experiences - Advise on podcast tours, branded events, venue arrangements, production agreements and ticketing terms. Leadership Exposure - Report directly to the Managing Director. - Influence business strategy from the outset. - Work autonomously while leveraging the expertise of Global's wider legal team. You'll likely be: - A qualified solicitor with 8+ years' PQE. - An experienced in-house commercial lawyer, currently operating at Senior Legal Counsel or Lead Counsel level. - Comfortable drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. - Experienced in fast-growth, scale-up or entrepreneurial environments. - Commercially minded, pragmatic and confident advising senior stakeholders. - Interested in sport, media, content, entertainment or digital businesses. Experience with corporate transactions, media/content agreements, sponsorship arrangements or live events would be particularly attractive. What makes this different?
