Employment Lawyer | Associate | Birmingham | Hybrid Working | National Firm
A leading national law firm is seeking an Associate (1-4 years' PQE) to join its well-regarded Employment team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to advise a broad client base on a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
As an Associate in the Employment team, you will:
Advise employers on both contentious and advisory employment law issues
Represent clients in Employment Tribunals, including Directions and Preliminary Hearings
Act for clients across multiple sectors including health and care (private and NHS), higher education, automotive, manufacturing and retail
Support on complex matters such as TUPE, corporate transactions, restructures and redundancy programmes
Draft and review employment contracts, policies, handbooks and procedures
Provide day-to-day advice on disciplinary and grievance issues, family-friendly rights and flexible working requests
Contribute to business development initiatives, training and client seminars
Collaborate closely with colleagues across the national Employment, Pensions & Immigration team
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualification as a Solicitor with 1-4 years' PQE in employment law
Experience across both contentious and non-contentious matters
Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills
A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to manage competing deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships
Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice
Previous experience advising clients in the health and care sector (desirable but not essential)
