Associate - Employment | Leading National Law Firm | Birmingham BCL Legal are excited to be working with a leading national law firm as they look to recruit an Associate into their highly regarded Employment team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an employment solicitor at an early stage of their career to join a collaborative national team, advising major employers on a wide range of employment matters while continuing to build strong technical and client-facing skills. About the Role The firm is seeking an enthusiastic employment lawyer to join its Employment, Pensions and Immigration National Service Line, based in Birmingham. The role offers exposure to a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment work, advising private sector and commercial employers across a range of sectors. You will work with clients including health and care providers (both private and NHS), commercial organisations (including well-known automotive, manufacturing and retail brands), and higher education institutions. In this role, you will be responsible for: Advising employers on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. Running Employment Tribunal matters with appropriate supervision. Supporting business development initiatives and helping to promote the firm's employment practice. Building strong, long-term client relationships and delivering excellent client service. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Employment, Pensions and Immigration service line. This is a varied and hands-on role within a supportive team, offering excellent opportunities for learning, development and progression. About You To be considered for this opportunity, you will have: At least 1 year's experience as an employment lawyer, gained in a reputable law firm or in-house environment. A clear enthusiasm for employment law and a desire to develop your career in this area. Experience of advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The ability to lead on Employment Tribunal matters with supervision. Excellent written English and strong drafting skills. Very good time management and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues. A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to work well as part of a team. An interest in business development and developing client training skills. Advocacy experience and previous experience advising large employers will be viewed positively but are not essential.
