Property Litigation Associate (Residential) | 3-7 PQE | Birmingham We are working with a nationally recognised law firm seeking a Property Litigation Associate to join their residential property litigation sub-team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-quality, technical landlord and tenant matters, with exposure at both local and national levels. The Role: Advise and conduct contested residential possession claims on behalf of landlords. Advise landlords on repairing obligations in residential leases and defend disrepair claims. Provide guidance on the Renters Rights Act 2025 and other housing law matters, including rent repayment orders, HMO licensing, tenant breaches of covenant, and rent increases. Support contentious long leaseholder work, including service charge matters, s20 consultations, s27A proceedings, enfranchisement and lease extensions, and Right to Manage work (desirable). Participate in client development initiatives and mentor junior team members. Take initiative and work proactively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Team: The Property Litigation team has extensive experience and unrivalled expertise in landlord and tenant litigation and real estate disputes. Work spans break notices, dilapidations, forfeiture, land registration disputes, lease renewals, possession claims, rent recovery, easement disputes, service charge issues, property-related insolvency, restrictive covenants, and niche areas such as property-related telecommunications, judicial review, and agricultural law. Clients include major retailers, investment landlords, developers, local authorities, and public bodies. Candidate Requirements: Qualified solicitor with 3-7 years' PQE in property litigation, ideally with landlord and tenant experience. Strong technical knowledge and experience handling contested residential possession claims. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to prioritise a demanding workload. Team player with the ability to support and mentor junior colleagues.
