Professional Support Lawyer | Employment, HR & Immigration | Birmingham
We are working with a highly regarded Top 50 UK law firm seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its market-leading Employment, HR & Immigration team as a Professional Support Lawyer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing national practice and play a pivotal role in shaping knowledge sharing, legal training and technical excellence across a 50-strong specialist team.
The Role:
Support the national Employment team by leading on legal know-how, training, precedents and best practice across employment, HR and immigration matters.
Monitor developments in employment law, case law and legislation, translating change into clear and practical guidance for lawyers across the team.
Take ownership of the team's precedents, templates and knowledge resources, ensuring materials remain accurate, commercially relevant and accessible.
Design and deliver technical training programmes, CPD sessions and induction support for colleagues across multiple offices.
Produce client alerts, legal updates and thought leadership content to enhance client service and market profile.
Support seminars, webinars and profile-raising initiatives for clients and referrers.
Drive consistency and technical confidence across the wider Employment team.
Identify smarter ways of working through legal technology, automation and AI-enabled knowledge management tools.
Work closely with fee earners, partners and business services teams to support strategic growth of the practice.
Opportunity for limited fee-earning or client advisory work, depending on experience and interest.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor with strong experience in UK employment law.
Previous experience as a PSL / Knowledge Lawyer or a technically strong Employment Solicitor seeking a move into a support role.
Excellent drafting, research and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence delivering training and presentations.
Strong technical knowledge across contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
A genuine interest in monitoring legal developments and translating them into practical guidance.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Collaborative mindset with the confidence to work independently and proactively.
Desirable Skills:
Experience within a Professional Support Lawyer or knowledge management role.
Exposure to immigration or wider HR advisory matters.
Interest in legal technology, automation and innovation.
Experience producing client-facing thought leadership or delivering external seminars.
Knowledge of learning and development best practice within professional services.
