An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Disputes Associate or Senior Associate to join a leading national law firm recognised for its strength in construction, infrastructure, and major projects work.
The firm is entering an exciting phase of growth, with a nationally acclaimed construction and projects disputes team acting on some of the most significant and high-value cases in the UK. This role offers the chance to handle complex and rewarding work for major public and private sector clients, and to play a central part in a team that continues to expand and succeed.
You'll be joining a top-tier construction disputes team, ranked highly in Legal 500 and Chambers UK, with recognised expertise across PFI, infrastructure, and major development disputes. The practice advises clients including local authorities, NHS Trusts, housing associations, developers, funders, and contractors, giving you a diverse and intellectually stimulating caseload.
Working alongside nationally recognised partners, you'll advise on a wide range of contentious construction matters from final account and loss and expense claims to complex defects disputes and multi-million-pound adjudications and litigations.
Recent high-profile instructions include:
- A £30m+ dispute concerning the construction of a major NHS mental health facility.
- Multiple high-value cladding replacement disputes involving non-compliance issues at large residential developments.
- A successful £23m PFI highways adjudication for a local authority.
- A Court of Appeal victory on a significant PFI procedural issue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting on a broad range of construction disputes, including adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and High Court litigation.
- Advising on PFI and major projects disputes, including issues around construction, maintenance, and operational performance.
- Working directly with clients to deliver clear, pragmatic and commercial advice.
- Supporting partners on complex, high-value matters while also managing your own caseload.
- Playing an active role in business development, helping to grow the team's presence regionally and nationally.
Key skills and experience:
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 5+ years' PQE in construction litigation or dispute resolution.
- Experience across adjudication, arbitration, and litigation, ideally including PFI disputes.
- Strong drafting, analysis, and client management skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver practical, outcome-focused advice.
- A team player with a proactive approach and enthusiasm for business development.
