About the Firm Our client is a large, full-service Am Law 100 firm with a genuinely national and international footprint. The firm has built a reputation for a broad, well-resourced corporate practice combined with a collegial, less rigidly hierarchical culture than some of its large-firm peers, offering senior associates real visibility and a path toward meaningful ownership of client relationships. About the Practice (New York) The M&A practice in New York benefits from the firm's scale and diversified client base, handling transactions across a wide range of industries and deal sizes rather than concentrating narrowly on one sector or deal type. This breadth gives senior associates exposure to varied transaction structures and client types, while the size and resources of the platform support complex, multi-jurisdictional deal work when needed. The Role The firm is seeking a senior M&A associate (5th-8th year) to join its New York corporate practice. At this level, the role carries substantial deal responsibility - leading transaction execution, managing junior associate teams, taking primary responsibility for drafting and negotiating key transaction documents, and serving as a direct point of contact for clients throughout the deal lifecycle. This is a stage of career where associates are expected to operate with real autonomy and begin taking on business development responsibilities alongside execution work. Long-Term Career Benefits * Senior-level timing supports a genuine partnership run. Joining at the 5th-8th year mark, with real deal leadership and client contact, positions a candidate well for partnership consideration within a realistic timeframe * Broad industry exposure builds a versatile, marketable practice. Experience across varied sectors and deal types strengthens both partnership candidacy and future lateral or in-house optionality * Scale supports complex, higher-profile matters. The resources of a large national platform allow senior associates to take on more sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional deals than may be available at a smaller shop * Direct client relationship ownership at this stage builds a portable practice. Managing client relationships directly - rather than staying purely execution-focused - is the foundation for either internal partnership or a strong lateral market position down the line All inquiries and conversations are strictly confidential.
