The Opportunity
This position offers exceptional exposure to complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial litigation and arbitration. You will join a collaborative, high-performing national disputes team, working closely with senior lawyers across the UK. The role is ideal for an Associate looking for more responsibility, strategic advisory work and direct client interaction.
You will be advising clients from the pre-action stage through to trial, arbitration or other forms of dispute resolution. Many matters involve an international dimension, giving you exposure to global commercial litigation strategies.
As a Commercial Disputes Associate, you will gain hands-on experience across a broad range of contentious work, including:
- Commercial contract disputes
- Sale of business disputes (fraud, indemnity, breach of warranty, earn-out issues)
- Shareholder, boardroom, partnership and joint venture disputes
- Enforcement of restrictive covenants and confidentiality obligations
-Asset recovery, injunctions and interim relief
- High-value settlement negotiations
- Cross-border litigation and international arbitration (including ICC and LCIA rules)
- Alternative dispute resolution, including mediation
The ideal candidate will be:
- A 1 - 3 PQE qualified solicitor with strong academics
- Experienced in commercial litigation or arbitration (NQ-3 PQE as a guide, though all levels considered)
- An excellent communicator, able to build trusted client relationships
- A team player with a positive, proactive and collaborative approach
- Interested in business development and developing a personal profile within the disputes space
- Experience of sports-related regulations would be advantageous but is not essential.
