In house Legal Counsel - Commercial THE COMPANY This highly successful Newcastle based business has been exceptionally successful in the past few years, has a turnover in the many hundreds of millions, and has built a well sized and high calibre legal team. THE ROLE The legal team is now looking to recruit an additional lawyer to join the team, focussing on a diverse and interesting range of commercial contracts as well as multiple other in house legal matters which may cross the desk. You would be reviewing, amending and drafting a range of contracts, some based on standard templates but many high value, bespoke and complex in nature. These agreements could relate to : IT infrastructure, energy and utilities, procurement, brand partnerships and marketing, professional services, facilities & management, and finance leases, to list just a few. Alongside the contracts work there may be other projects on which to work. For example, these could be regulatory in nature, licensing issues, group wide policies, or assisting the HR team on employment matters. ABOUT YOU This role would best suit someone with a year or two pqe, but if you have more experience then more complex work would come your way. You'll probably already have a track record of working with commercial contracts in a reputable law firm or in house team, and you'll definitely need exceptional communication skills, as do all in house legal counsel. However, if you a lawyer who has aspirations to work in house, but are currently working in a discipline such as commercial litigation, corporate, or restructuring this could be a great career launch pad to gain high quality commercial contracts experience in a supportive environment. ADDITIONAL DETAILS The business operates a hybrid working pattern where you would work in the office 2 or 3 days a week. There is a great remuneration package on offer including a bonus of up to 20%.
