Are you a qualified solicitor or experienced contract manager looking to take the next step in your in-house legal career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join the growing in-house legal team of a forward-thinking business based in Leeds. The Opportunity This is a rare chance to be part of a high-growth, values-led business. As Legal Counsel, you'll play a key role in enabling the business to scale, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners across a range of commercial matters. Joining an established high calibre legal team, you'll take ownership of a broad and varied legal portfolio-from reviewing and negotiating complex client contracts to shaping legal governance and risk frameworks across the organisation. Key Responsibilities - Provide pragmatic legal advice across the business on a variety of commercial, contractual, and compliance matters. - Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts, service agreements, consultancy agreements, and NDAs. - Support bid teams with input on legal risk, contract terms, and compliance in competitive tendering processes. - Help the business navigate complex legal risks and strengthen customer relationships during negotiations. - Maintain and update legal templates and internal policies to ensure ongoing compliance with UK law and industry best practice. - Deliver legal training and guidance to non-legal colleagues across the business. - Collaborate with external counsel where specialist input is required. - Support continuous improvement in legal operations, risk mitigation and internal governance structures. What We're Looking For - Strong experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts, ideally within the technology, consultancy or public sectors - Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment. - Excellent legal drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. - A strategic thinker with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach. - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
