Joint CEO and Head of Residential Conveyancing at Ramsdens Solicitors

The joint CEO of the Yorkshire firm Ramsdens Solicitors shares her passions and interests

How do you like to start the day?

I’d love to say with a run but that would be a lie. I’m not a morning person, I like to start the day slowly, but I definitely warm up as the day goes on.

What’s your favourite object in your office/home office?

The dog at home. She listens, doesn’t answer back and keeps my knees warm when I’m too tight to put the heating on.

Who is your closest colleague?

You can’t ask me that! All of our colleagues are brilliant, which is what makes Ramsdens such a great place to work.

Do you have a favourite family heirloom?

We have a globe in our office at home, which belonged to my grandparents. It’s yellowed and has old tape around it but it means a lot to me and looking at it helps calm my mind when it gets hectic.

What’s your favourite song of all time?

My favourite song changes from month to month, but I love anything I can sing along to, although this is to the annoyance of my family and colleagues.

What’s your favourite play?

The first play I ever saw, which was Grease when I was 12. It was at the Dominion Theatre in London and apparently I sat on the edge of my seat, open-mouthed for the whole show! I love it equally as much today.

Who’s your favourite movie star?

Julie Andrews – she is an icon.

What’s your favourite book?

I love anything home related, so I actually read a lot of Livingetc magazine! There’s a really great mix of inspiration and expert advice, so it keeps me occupied!

What book are you reading right now?

I’m not reading anything at the minute. Instead, I am loving Nobody Wants This on Netflix – there’s a new series coming out in 2026, which I can’t wait for.

What book do you wish you had written?

Harry Potter! The imagination behind those books is on another level, and the subsequent payday must have been nice!

What’s the greatest invention of all time?

It’s got to be the car. I hate public transport and much prefer to be behind the wheel.

Is there a sport you wish you could play?

Tennis. I enjoy watching the matches, especially in the summer.

Who inspires you in business?

My fiancé – he left his mainstream job in banking to retrain as a financial adviser and is absolutely killing it! He’s the true epitome of “life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.

In the office do you dress up, dress down or somewhere in between?

A bit of both – completely depends on how I’m feeling and what I’ve got on.

Where do you go to relax?

I grew up in the Lake District and my family still live there, so I visit whenever I get the opportunity.

What country have you always wanted to visit?

Austria, having been inspired by the Sound of Music (and Julie Andrews!) as a child.

Besides your phone, what do you always have with you?

My keys – what else is there?!

What’s the best part of your job?

Seeing people grow and develop throughout their career. We have a huge focus on our people at Ramsdens.

How do you unwind after work?

Normally by chilling in front of the TV.

Finally, what’s your guilty pleasure?

Selling Sunset on Netflix. I love the multimillion-pound homes, the “fashion” and the drama.
