  • Paul Hastings has welcomed leverage finance lawyer Adrian Chiodo to its London office as a partner in the finance and restructuring practice.
  • Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP has hired a private equity team of three partners from Vinson & Elkins in London. Partner Federico Fruhbeck, who will serve as Gibson Dunn’s head of private equity in Europe and co-chair of the projects and infrastructure practice group, will join alongside partners Robert Dixon and Alice Brogi.
  • Goodwin has announced that 40 lawyers have been elected to the firm’s partnership, effective as of 1 October 2021.  In the London office Glynn Barwick (financial industry) and Charlotte Haywood (tax) have been promoted.

  • Marriott Harrison LLP has appointed its head of corporate, David Jacob, as managing partner with effect from 1 October 2021. Former managing partner, Hugh Gardner continues in his role as a partner in the corporate team. Jacob joined Marriott Harrison in 2014 and is succeeded in his position as head of corporate by Jonathan Leigh-Hunt.

  • Harrison Clark Rickerbys has promoted Pearse Sheehan (corporate) to senior associate in the London office.

  • Devonshires has announced it is retaining all of its newly qualified solicitors.  Ellie Fletcher (construction), Abbie Grimwood (construction), Llewellyn Perkins (employment), Lale Ali (real estate & projects), Charlotte Ingram (banking, governance & corporate), and Mahzabin Choudhury (securitisation) all qualified on 5 October 2021.
  • Birketts has made a number of senior promotions including Emily Osborne to senior associate and Talia Jacobs to associate in the London office.
  • Devonshires has made nine senior appointments in the London office. The construction team is joined by Karen Morean, Josie Williams, and Patrick Trevor. Joining the real estate and projects team are Victoria Schofield, Jade Curran, and Ciara Phillips. Fay Birch joins from the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team and Chris Cuckney joins the employment team. Also joining is CILEX lawyer Jatinder Bhamber into the housing management and property litigation team.
  • Berkeley Rowe has made a number of appointments in its litigation team. Senior associate, Daniel Roberts joins from Smithfield Partners, while associate Jonathan Bennett joins from Slaughter and May.  Also joining the team are litigation paralegals Anita Niaraki and Berivan Genc.  Meanwhile, the firm has taken on two trainees, Kailie De Zoysa and Imogen Simmonds. They joined the firm as paralegals within the last year and have now commenced their training contracts.

  • Candice Nichol, a tax lawyer and former managing associate at Simmons & Simmons, has joined KPMG as a deal advisory tax partner in London.
  • Hogan Lovells has announced a change in leadership of its Africa practice. With effect from 1 January 2022, partners Arun Velusami (London) and Olivier Fille- Lambie (Paris) will co-lead the global practice.
  • Norton Rose Fulbright has announced that London capital markets and Islamic finance partner Farmida Bi has been named global chair, effective 1 January 2022.

  • DLA Piper has appointed two new partners in the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice in London. Patricia Collis joined f on 13 December 2021 and Rebecca Lawrence joins on the 10 January 2022.
  • Jennette Newman has joined Ince as a  new partner and head of insurance in the firm’s London office.
  • Watson Farley & Williams has announced that George Paleokrassas and Lindsey Keeble have been elected the firm’s new senior partner and managing partner respectively for a five-year term beginning in February 2022.
  • Data protection and privacy lawyer Victoria Hordern and pensions specialist Anna Taylor have joined Taylor Wessing as partners in London.
  • Hausfeld has announced that, effective 1 January 2022, head of commercial disputes, Lianne Craig, will become managing partner in London. She succeeds current London managing partner and vice chair, Anthony Maton, who will be assuming the role of global co-chair, together with Washington DC partner and vice chair Brian Ratner, as long-time chair Michael Hausfeld will become chair emeritus. Partner John McElroy will take over from Craig as head of commercial disputes in London.
