Associate - Construction & Engineering (Non-Contentious)

A leading UK law firm is seeking an ambitious Construction & Engineering Associate to join its dynamic non-contentious team based in Leeds.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-value, complex construction matters within the infrastructure, residential development, and public sector space. The team advises developers, funders, central and local government bodies, and NHS Trusts, and holds panel appointments with several top-tier national housebuilders.
With a strong and growing pipeline of infrastructure work-including transport, flood defence, and healthcare projects-this is an ideal role for an associate looking to develop technical expertise and take a step forward in a high-performing and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting, negotiating, and advising on a range of construction and engineering contracts, including NEC4-based frameworks, consultant appointments, and bespoke agreements
Supporting partners with client meetings and relationship management
Assisting with fee proposals and tender documentation
Managing your own caseload with increasing autonomy
Supervising junior team members, including paralegals
Contributing to business development, client training, and internal knowledge sharing
Ensuring compliance with internal processes, client care, and financial management protocols
What We're Looking For:
Experience in non-contentious construction law is preferred, but candidates with strong commercial contracts/projects experience and an interest in the infrastructure sector will also be considered
Solid academic background with strong drafting and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive team player with a commercial outlook and strong organisational skills
A genuine interest in construction and infrastructure, with ambition to grow within the sector
